1.What we collect
Account details: your name, email address, phone number and region.
Ad details: titles, descriptions, prices, photos, location and the phone number you give for each ad.
Messages you send to other users in chat, ads you save, reports you send us, and messages you send through our Contact page (your name, email address and message).
Basic usage information: we count how many times an ad is viewed, using your account or a random anonymous identifier, and we use cookies to keep you signed in.
If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google. We do not receive your Google password.
If you ask to be verified: a live photo of yourself taken with your camera, and the pose we asked you to show. We use it only to check that a real person is behind the account.
If you buy a plan: the plan you chose, the amount, the date and a payment reference. Payments are handled by Paystack. We never see or store your card or mobile money details.
2.How we use it
To run your account, show your ads, let buyers and sellers contact each other, keep the platform safe, prevent fraud and spam, answer your messages, fix problems and improve Casibay.
3.Who can see your information
Your ads, photos, name and the region or town you choose are public. Your phone number is shown only to signed-in people who tap Show phone number on your ad. Your email address is not shown to other users.
Chat messages are visible to you and the other person in the chat. We may look at messages only when needed to investigate a report, keep Casibay safe, or when the law requires. The ads you save are private to you.
We never sell your personal information.
Your verification photo is private. Only the Casibay team can see it, only to check your identity, and we delete it once we have reviewed it. Other users only see whether your account has a Verified badge.
4.Service providers and where data is stored
We use trusted providers to run Casibay. Our database, sign-in service and photo storage are provided by Supabase and are located in Ireland, in the European Union. Our website is served by Vercel. Payments are processed by Paystack, and you can choose to sign in with Google. This means your information is processed outside Ghana. These providers may only use your information to help us run Casibay.
We may also share information when the law requires it.
5.Cookies
We use cookies that are needed to keep you signed in and to make the site work. We do not use advertising cookies.
6.How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is active and for as long as needed to keep the platform safe and meet legal duties. When you delete an ad, its details and photos are removed. Reports and contact messages are kept for as long as we need to deal with them and to prevent abuse. You can delete your account yourself at any time from the Account page. This removes your profile, your ads and their photos, your chats and messages, your saved ads and the reports you sent. Reports about other users, and messages sent through our Contact page, may be kept so we can keep Casibay safe. Verification photos are deleted after we review them. Payment records are kept for as long as accounting and tax rules require.
7.Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted, in line with the Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843) of Ghana. You can delete your account from the Account page. For any other request, use our Contact page.
8.Keeping your data safe
We use sensible technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including access controls on our database. No system is perfectly secure, so please also keep your password private and never share codes sent to your phone.
9.Children
Casibay is not meant for children under 18 to use on their own. If you think a child has given us personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.
10.Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page.
